Teacher's Day Celebration

It's been what? A near 13 year old tradition of us meeting up with our secondary school teachers when it's near Teacher's Day (1st Sept) to celebrate their vocation. We left secondary school in 1994, it's been so long and a tradition for us to meet our teachers yearly.

This year we headed to our teacher's house, just to find that the place has been renovated and cleanly retrofitted with old quaint looking furniture and air conditioners. Also met up with my old secondary school friends, caught up with their work, love life and more.

It's really been so long a time since we've graduated from our GCE 'O' levels and we've all progressed through the JC/Polytechnic years into adulthood and finally embracing the working society. Our teachers have grown old obviously, and surprisingly their kids were thinking that 'kids' are coming over to visit their parents today. Amusing. My teacher's daughter (2nd eldest) was abit shocked to find out that oldest within the group is 29 years old. Well, don't really blame her as she already has a kid of 6~7 years old who can play the piano well. She's a nice girl but pity her ex-husband does not know how to appreciate her. I guess life is as such.

We had great food, fun, laughter and drinks, greatly sponsored by our teacher and the effort they went to to prepare the food, drinks and make us feel superbly comfortable at home. They were great hosts definitely. We certainly had a good time meeting up, enjoying the day. I ate a bit too much. Guilty because I had to skip gym for this yearly meet up session which I do reserve 1st Sept for it but because my friend has his off day today instead, we had to reschedule it.

Came home, feeling a bit sian. One of my friend, married, is having her kid. My other friend is engaged, my other male friend is single. Teachers are like parents, always asking you when your turn is. I didn't say much about what's going on in my life. The pain is still there. I shall just let it live and move on with life till I can look away and/or look at it and smile at the memories.

A good day nonetheless although I was very tired, my two little devils wore me out at home with me playing a more serious disciplinary uncle unlike my 3rd sis who spoils them completely.

Right now, had to force down a packet of char siew rice for dinner although I'm very full and sitting here blogging away, reminiscing about the past, the fun we had in school, my youth, my life and what's going to come up next.

We have changed, from youths into teenagers into adulthood, facing marriage, greater decisions in life, money matters, health issues and more. Time flies. No doubt.
